The other day during a follow-up lesson, one of my students pulled out a new eyeshadow palette she had just bought on Amazon. She told me she couldn’t get it to blend the way she wanted, and asked if I could help.
I took one look at it and immediately thought, something feels off.
So I grabbed my own palette—the real deal—for a side-by-side comparison. That’s when it hit us both: hers was a fake eyeshadow palette.
At first glance, it looked almost identical. But the more we compared, the clearer it became:
It was so close, but definitely not real.
Fake makeup isn’t just about wasting money on something that doesn’t perform. It can also be unsafe. When you buy counterfeit beauty products, you don’t know what’s actually in them. Unknown ingredients can lead to skin irritation, breakouts, or worse.
Unfortunately, counterfeit makeup is everywhere on Amazon right now. Palettes, lipsticks, even skincare-if it’s popular, chances are someone’s trying to copy it.
If you’re ever in doubt, here are a few signs to look for:
I don’t buy makeup or any luxury beauty products on Amazon. The risk of counterfeits is simply too high. When it comes to your skin, it’s always better to play it safe.
Instead, shop from trusted retailers, official brand websites, or licensed professionals. You’ll know you’re getting the real thing, and your products will perform the way they’re supposed to.
Because at the end of the day, beauty should enhance your confidence, not leave you second-guessing what’s really in your makeup bag.
