Aging with Attitude: Why It’s Time to Reclaim the Mirror

There’s something I see far too often in my studio, and it always hits me hard. Women sit in my chair, full of self-doubt, speaking about their faces with disapproval, apologizing for aging as if it’s something they’ve done wrong.

Many of them tell me they don’t even look in the mirror anymore. They avoid their reflection like it’s something to fear. And that breaks my heart.

I hear things like:
💬 “Can you make me look less tired?”
💬 “Can you get rid of this sagging?”
💬 “I just don’t recognize myself anymore.”

And I have to be honest with them. Makeup doesn’t erase wrinkles. It doesn’t lift sagging skin. That’s what surgery is for. But what makeup can do is soften lines, add fresh dimension, and create that ‘I slept well’ glow. And that is exactly what my signature style is all about.

But here’s what I want every woman to know—your beauty is still there. Your presence, your spirit, your story are all still alive in your face. The issue isn’t that you’re aging. The issue is that the world has convinced you to fear it.

Why Are We Apologizing for Aging?

Somewhere along the way, society decided that aging should be something to hide. The beauty industry made billions off of convincing women that their worth declines as their skin changes. Ageism in the workplace reinforces the message that youth equals value. And social media, with its never-ending stream of filters and 20-year-olds selling “anti-aging” skincare, only makes things worse.

And so, women stop looking in the mirror. They stop seeing themselves as vibrant, as whole. Instead, they see a list of things to fix.

But aging isn’t something to fix. It’s something to own and something to do with an attitude.

Aging with Attitude: No More Apologies

One of the best things I ever read was French Women Don’t Get Facelifts. The biggest takeaway? You have to age with attitude.

A no-f*s-given attitude.** Not in a careless way—but in an I’m-not-letting-the-world-tell-me-how-to-feel-about-my-face kind of way.

You don’t have to shrink.
You don’t have to hide.
And you sure as hell don’t have to let anyone tell you you’re “too old” for anything.

If you’re experiencing ageism in the workplace, fight back. If you’re feeling pressure to erase yourself, push against it. And if you’ve been avoiding the mirror, it’s time to look again—with new eyes.

Makeup as a Tool for Reconnection

Makeup shouldn’t be about chasing youth and if you think about it, it would be kind of weird to want to look 20 when thats not something natural—it should be about enhancing the beauty that’s already there.

I teach women how to bring their features to life in a way that feels fresh, effortless, and authentic to them. Not a mask, not a desperate attempt to turn back time—but a way to see yourself again.

If you’ve been feeling lost in your own reflection, I invite you to step back into the light. Let’s bring back your glow—not just on your skin, but in how you see yourself.
