Why Your Makeup Never Looks

Right

If you’ve ever followed a tutorial, bought the same product, or copied someone’s routine — and still felt like your makeup looked “off” — you’re not doing anything wrong.

Makeup doesn’t fail because of skill. It fails because most advice ignores real faces, real coloring, and real life.

The Real Reasons

Your face often has redness, shadow, or uneven tone that your body doesn’t. Most tutorials are filmed under controlled lighting that hides this completely.

1. Faces ≠ Bodies ≠ Lighting

The same blush, lipstick, or foundation shifts dramatically depending on undertone, contrast, and depth. What looks “fresh” on one person can look dull or heavy on another.

2. Products Look Different on Different Coloring

They show what to do — not why. So when something doesn’t work, you don’t know how to adjust.

3. Most Tutorials Skip Decision-Making

This part matters more than most people realize.

During lessons, many clients are shocked by how intense it feels to look at themselves up close in a handheld mirror. But that’s not how people see you — at all. No one is standing two inches from your face, analyzing your makeup or your face.

When you step back, look in a mirror from across the room, or take a quick video or photo, things soften. Features balance out. The look and your face suddenly makes sense.

Up-close inspection can distort your perception — and make you far harder on yourself than you need to be.

4. You’re Seeing Yourself Far Closer Than Anyone Else Ever Will

A Gentle Reframe

The goal isn’t to look like someone else.
The goal is to understand why things work — so you can make them work for you.

  • In the Beauty Breakthrough, we slow everything down — color, technique, and adjustments — so it actually sticks.

I have made a personal commitment to use #donoharmbeauty to effect change in the world.

All of the makeup I use is cruelty-free. Always.

Not only do I meticulously research and choose furry-friend friendly products for your beauty experience, but I also give back a portion of my profits to an animal charity that protects animals from cruelty, exploitation, and other abuses. I choose to do this for all the living creatures who don't get a choice.

I love animals, and I think it’s an atrocity that 500,000 animals are harmed and killed each year for the sake of cosmetics testing. This does not have to happen.

That’s why all of the makeup I use is cruelty-free. Always.
